Volvo introduced a concept car built for women!
The Volvo YCC was a concept car presented in 2004 at the Geneva Motor Show with the stated goal of meeting the particular needs of female drivers.
In order to do so, Volvo assembled a design team entirely made up of women, some time in the Fall of 2001. It was a major exercise in ergonomics from the perspective of a female driver.
On the outside the car looked, at first glance, like a mildly futuristic four seat coupĂ©. On closer inspection one could see that there was no hood, that is, no access panel permitting access to the car’s engine.
Engine maintenance required taking out the whole front end of the car body, preferably in some establishment with the required space and equipment.
The car was never released; however the whole concept was pretty cool. If you’d like to learn more about it, make sure you check the video in the source link.
There are more vending machines in Japan than ...
The population of New Zealand is around 4.4 million people, which is pretty good considering the small size of the countries land mass.
In Japan, there are over 5.52 million vending machines. Hypothetically, if every single person in New Zealand took a trip to Japan, everyone could have their own personal vending machine with over a million vending machines sitting around as extras!
The reason Japan has so many vending machines, in fact the most in the world, is because vending machines have been in Japan since the late 1800's. The earliest Japanese vending machine sold cigarettes.
Today, Japanese vending machines are some of the most technologically advanced in the world. The machines accept both coins and bills of any Yen size! Furthermore, the machines sell drinks, food, stamps, flowers, magazines, and daily sundries!
